Pieces for solo Bassoon with Ben Roild-Ward
We invite you to Building Bridges, which in its first cycle presents four new works for solo bassoon by bold composers based in the U.S. and Europe. This musical performance features electronics, lights, and music theater in an original spectacle. The music of Stratis Minakakis, Konstantinos Baras, Michalis Paraskakis, and Niki Harlafti draws inspiration from Greek heritage and contemporary Greek reality: from the transcendence of ancient Greek hymns and temples, philosophy and mythology, to the challenges of life in modern Greece. Building Bridges is a global initiative by the German-American virtuoso bassoonist Ben Roidl-Ward and the Greek composer Niki Harlafti, aimed at promoting Greek composers internationally through the commissioning and performance of exciting works of contemporary classical music and multimedia productions.
