Konstantinos Baras (b. 1993) is a Greek composer of instrumental and electroacoustic music. His work explores the relationship between sound, bodily movement, and physical gesture. This focus extends into interdisciplinary contexts through collaborations with a wide range of performers, dancers, and movement artists, as well as through the integration of live electronics, space, light, and visual media.

His continued entanglement with black metal and techno contributes to a distinctive sound palette and informs his use of repetition, distortion, sustained energy, and bodily mechanics to intensify sound’s physical impact on the listener. His musical language is characterized by complex and saturated sonic environments, forceful gestures, extended techniques, and noise. Electronic sound occupies a central place in his work.

His works have been performed by Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Sound Initiative Ensemble, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME), Ensemble Multilatérale, among others. Baras completed his PhD in Composition and Music Technology at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music in Chicago. He holds a master’s degree from Boston University, where he studied composition with Joshua Fineberg, and a degree from the School of Music Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he studied composition with Christos Samaras. He has also undertaken advanced professional training in composition, research, and electronic music at IRCAM – Centre Pompidou in Paris.
